How does it work???

It really couldn't be any easier! You send us your favorite photos and we do the rest! You have a choice of black and white, color, or sepia.  We recommend black and white for a classic look and it is our most popular choice! Please note, we can not change an already black and white photo to color.

Which photos work best???
Choose a photo that you LOVE!!!  It doesn't matter if it was taken by a photographer, or by and amateur, as long as the photo is of GOOD QUALITY.  We discourage photos with bad lighting. We will do what we can to enhance the beauty of your photo, however, if the image quality is too poor, we will ask that you send a different one.   If you are having more then one person in the photo, it is very important to have the individuals close together.  That will produce the best close up of the faces once we crop the picture.  PLEASE DO NOT CROP THE PHOTOS YOURSELF!!!  We will do that for you depending on the style of jewelry you choose. !  TRY TO AVOID photos with hats and sunglasses, as these will detract from the simplicity of the piece. We can use ANY PHOTO, of ANY SIZE.  

How do I send my photos???
You can e-mail them to lori@paytonspretties.com.   –  PLEASE STATE YOUR COMPLETE NAME IN THE EMAIL SO WE CAN KEEP RECORD OF YOUR PICTURE.   If you only have hard copies, they can be sent by US mail in a photo safe mailer (see mailing address on contact page) and will be returned to you with your order. Please be sure to label your photos on the back with your name and phone number so we know who they belong to. PLEASE DO NOT send negatives or heirloom photos that cannot be reproduced, as we CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE.***PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR PHOTOS VIA AN ON-LINE ALBUM SUCH AS SHUTTERFLY OR KODAK EASY SHARE, as we often have trouble accessing them.

What if I only want to use one face out of a group shot???
Not a problem- just let us know! A good way to do this is to make a photocopy of your picture and indicate in red marker who should be cropped out and who should remain.  If sending by email, just indicate in the email which person is being used from a specific picture.

How do you crop the photos???
Photos are typically cropped close around the face and hair.  We may at times erase distracting objects in the background if we feel the need to do so. If you’d like the photo cropped differently, please let us know. Basic photo editing is included in the price of the jewelry. If extensive editing/retouching is needed, we will let you know. The cost for this is $25 per hour.

How long will it take to receive my jewelry???
Our production time is typically 2-3 weeks (sometimes longer during peak holiday seasons) from the time we receive your photos & payment.   Photos will be sent via USPS Priority mail unless otherwise noted in the shopping cart.  Delivery is usually 2-3 business days after sending. If you need something sooner, please let us know (RUSH charge may apply). 

How do I clean my jewelry???
Our necklaces are made of the finest sterling silver and can be cleaned with a sterling silver cleaner.  You will probably not need to clean the bezel surrounding the photo as it is made of plated nickel and does NOT tarnish.  The domes over the pictures can be cleaned simply with any window cleaner.

Can I wear my jewelry in the shower or pool?
Yes! That’s the great part – you never have to worry about your jewelry getting ruined by water!

Do you provide gift wrapping???
Yes, each Hartstringz jewelry piece arrives in our signature box with pink ribbon, ready to give – even if it’s a gift for yourself! If you are shipping a Hartstringz piece directly to someone else, let us know and we’ll include a gift card at no extra charge.

What is your return policy???
Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of each piece, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges. Since each piece is made by hand, no two pieces will ever be alike or “perfect”. Slight irregularities in the dome of each piece should not be considered defects.

Can I update my photos as my children get older?

ABSOLUTELY!!!!  We can update photos as often as you'd like!  For necklaces, key chains, the single picture stone bracelet, and our crystal/sterling bracelet we will make a new photo and put your item back together for a $50 charge.  That's it!!! Unfortunately, our 5 picture bracelet has to be completely redone and would remain the full price.
